Hotels will be able to request, track and bill Uber rides directly from Mews, turning a manual front desk task into a connected workflow and a new source of ancillary revenue. 

AMSTERDAM and SAN FRANCISCO, May 26, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Mews, the hospitality operating system, has announced a strategic partnership with Uber to embed ride booking, real-time tracking and integrated billing directly into the Mews platform. 

Uber announced GO-GET 2026 last month, organizing the app around three actions: go, get and travel. Alongside a series of partnerships on the rider side, the Mews integration extends the same direction into the hotel’s property management system (PMS), giving hoteliers a way to offer Uber rides as part of the guest stay rather than a transaction that happens outside their walls. 

At Mews Unfold on May 27 in Amsterdam, Christophe Peymirat, Sr. Director, General Manager, Uber for Business EMEA, and Mike Coscetta, President of Mews, will take the stage together to discuss how collaboration between travel technology, hotels and companies outside the traditional travel sector is reshaping the guest experience. 

Transportation bookings are one of the most common guest requests and one of the most manual processes in hotel operations. Mews research from 2026 found that guests arrange their own transportation and spend an average of $50 on it per stay, money that bypasses the hotel entirely1. With this integration, hoteliers can drive additional ancillary revenue by offering this service to guests. 

This highlights a significant opportunity: guests today want a ‘frictionless’ stay where the hotel solves every problem for them, not just the room. By bringing these moments together, this integration allows hotels to move beyond just accommodation and deliver the fully connected experience guests are looking for.

This momentous occasion also launched a new era for Hong Kong’s development of innovation and technology (I&T) as well as the city’s participation in national development under China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. 

Congratulating Dr Lai on her achievement, John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), said that the HKSAR can “transform from a ‘supporter’ of the country’s great aerospace endeavours into an ‘executor’ “. 

“This not only demonstrates the HKSAR’s capability in contributing to the country’s development into an aerospace power, but also showcases how Hong Kong could better integrate into and serve the overall national development,” Mr Lee said. 

“This mission is of great significance, as it is not only the first manned spaceflight mission during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, but also the first time for a payload expert from the HKSAR to participate in it.” 

The Shenzhou-23 crew will conduct on-orbit rotation with the Shenzhou-21 crew. The crew, including Dr Lai, will stay in the space station and conduct multiple experiments and applications in various fields such as scientific applications. 

The Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the HKSAR Government, Professor Sun Dong, led a delegation to the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center to witness this historic moment. Members of the delegation included other government representatives, I&T experts, youths and students. 

“I truly believe this is a great demonstration of Hong Kong integrating into and serving the overall national development through concrete actions, while contributing our strength in I&T,” Professor Sun said.

Commissioner for Innovation and Technology of the HKSAR Government, Mr Ivan Lee, said that the Government had been providing funding support for universities and research institutions in conducting aerospace technology-related projects through the Innovation and Technology Fund. 

“In 2024, we launched a special call for funding applications, inviting universities to submit project proposals related to aerospace technology. Following a selection process, we supported six projects. Among them was the Multi‑Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory (MUSICO) developed by a team from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology,” he said. 

On the Tiangong Space Station, Dr Lai will conduct experiments including operating the MUSICO — the world’s first lightweight, high-resolution synergistic observatory for carbon dioxide and methane emission point sources. 

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Dr Lai is a Superintendent of the Hong Kong Police Force. In the recruitment exercise of China’s fourth batch of preparatory astronauts launched in 2022, she was successfully selected as a payload expert and was deployed to the China Astronaut Research and Training Center for training. 

Before embarking on the historic spaceflight, Dr Lai expressed hope that it would inspire more Hong Kong youths to devote themselves to the field of I&T, thereby contributing to the country’s scientific and technological self-reliance and strength.

Oltre un milione e quattrocentomila euro spalmati in tre anni per garantire la sicurezza, l’accessibilità e il decoro della rete dedicata alle due ruote. È questo l’impegno economico approvato dalla Giunta regionale per il triennio 2026-2028, con l’obiettivo di finanziare gli interventi di manutenzione sulle principali direttrici ciclabili del territorio.

I fondi, che ammontano per la precisione a 476.100 euro per ciascuna annualità, andranno a coprire sia le opere ordinarie (con un tesoretto annuo di 100.000 euro) sia quelle straordinarie (per i restanti 376.100 euro). I tracciati interessati dallo stanziamento sono infrastrutture nevralgiche per la mobilità dolce e il turismo regionale: il sistema integrato Ciclopista dell’Arno-Sentiero della Bonifica e la Ciclovia Tirrenica. Le risorse verranno ripartite tra le amministrazioni locali in modo proporzionale, calcolando l’estensione in chilometri dei percorsi ciclopedonali ricadenti in ciascun territorio, andando a coprire una rete complessiva che supera i 330 chilometri.

Il presidente della Regione, Eugenio Giani, inquadra l’iniziativa nell’ottica di un supporto costante agli enti locali su tutta l’area regionale: “La Toscana conferma la propria attenzione alla mobilità sostenibile e continua a sostenere i Comuni, anche quelli della Toscana diffusa, in modo concreto, destinando alla manutenzione ordinaria e straordinaria di queste due importanti infrastrutture ciclabili oltre un milione e 400mila euro complessivi per il triennio 2026-2028. Si tratta di un contributo importante che potrà essere utilizzato sia per la cura ordinaria che per interventi più rilevanti”.

La necessità di affiancare la salvaguardia dell’esistente alla creazione di nuove opere è il fulcro dell’intervento dell’assessore Filippo Boni: “Portare a termine la realizzazione dei grandi itinerari cicloturistici toscani, dei quali il sistema integrato Ciclovia dell’Arno-Sentiero della Bonifica e la Ciclopista Tirrenica sono i due esempi più avanzati, è la prima grande sfida per lo sviluppo della mobilità dolce e del cicloturismo in Toscana ma una ulteriore sfida sta nella manutenzione e nella cura del patrimonio esistente: per questo abbiamo deliberato un sostegno ai Comuni attraversati da questi itinerari, con l’obiettivo di aiutarli a manutenere un totale di oltre 330 chilometri di percorsi ciclopedonali e rendere così sempre più accessibile e fruibile il nostro straordinario territorio”.

AREZZO – Il questore di Arezzo ha sospeso da oggi, per quindici giorni, la licenza dell’attività di un esercizio pubblico regolarmente autorizzato alla somministrazione di alimenti e bevande ubicato in una zona centrale della città.

Il provvedimento di sospensione dell’attività è stato adottato a seguito di controlli effettuati dal personale dell’Ufficio prevenzione generale e soccorso pubblico che in due occasioni ha visto la presenza all’interno dei locali dell’attività di soggetti dediti al consumo ed allo spaccio di sostanze stupefacenti. Infatti, proprio nell’ultimo evento è stato tratto in arresto un cittadino extracomunitario, il quale occultava sulla propria persona della sostanza stupefacente del tipo eroina.

In questo caso l’intervento del questore della Provincia di Arezzo mira a dissuadere i soggetti indesiderati attraverso la misura della sospensione della Scia di somministrazione di alimenti e bevande, limitata nel tempo, del locale costituente punto di riferimento per coloro che, come si è acclarato nei due episodi, è punto di riferimento per le persone che sono dedite allo spaccio e al consumo di sostanze stupefacenti.

La mappatura del rischio legato ai terremoti in Toscana si fa sempre più accurata. L’amministrazione regionale prosegue nel suo programma di analisi territoriale mirato a simulare potenziali eventi tellurici, valutandone in anticipo l’impatto a livello locale. Questi dati si rivelano strumenti cruciali per una corretta gestione delle emergenze, per la pianificazione urbanistica, per la progettazione di nuove strutture e per la delicata fase di ricostruzione post-sisma.

In quest’ottica, la Regione ha compiuto un nuovo passo formale. Lo scorso 14 maggio, tramite il decreto numero 10830, è stato approvato un bando rivolto specificamente agli Enti locali. Sul piatto c’è un milione di euro, proveniente dal Fondo europeo di sviluppo regionale. Le risorse finanzieranno indagini specialistiche denominate di Microzonazione sismica di livello 4. Si tratta di studi di altissima precisione, riservati esclusivamente ai Comuni toscani che hanno già completato la mappatura di ‘Livello 3’, con lo scopo di affinare ulteriormente i dati a disposizione.

A delineare la strategia dietro questo stanziamento è l’assessore regionale all’ambiente, David Barontini: “La Regione Toscana sta portando avanti un lavoro concreto di rafforzamento della prevenzione sismica, attraverso gli studi di microzonazione sismica, per aumentare la sicurezza dei territori e delle comunità. L’obiettivo è quello di realizzare cartografie di pericolosità sismica locale sempre più precise, migliorando la conoscenza del sottosuolo e la capacità di valutare gli effetti di un possibile evento sismico”.

L’assessore evidenzia anche un primato tecnico dell’ente in questo settore: “Questo significa rafforzare la prevenzione, rendere più sicura la programmazione degli interventi e aumentare la protezione del patrimonio edilizio, con particolare attenzione agli edifici pubblici strategici e ai contesti più esposti. Peraltro la Toscana è fra le due Regioni italiane a effettuare internamente il controllo sulla microzonazione, senza ricorrere a soggetti esterni”. Concludendo poi sul senso complessivo dell’operazione: “È un lavoro che unisce conoscenza scientifica e pianificazione del territorio, e che rappresenta uno strumento fondamentale per costruire comunità più sicure e preparate di fronte al rischio sismico”.

Il milione di euro appena sbloccato rappresenta solo l’ultimo tassello di un investimento a lungo termine: negli ultimi quindici anni, infatti, l’ente ha destinato oltre sei milioni di euro alle attività di prevenzione e conoscenza della sismicità regionale.

Il bilancio post-elettorale del Partito Democratico toscano si traduce in una forte iniezione di fiducia, non limitata ai soli confini regionali ma nettamente proiettata verso uno scenario politico nazionale. Le recenti consultazioni amministrative hanno infatti premiato la strategia delle intese territoriali ben radicate, segnando il passo per la costruzione di una solida e credibile alternativa alle destre.

A fare la sintesi dei risultati è la vicesegretaria dem in Toscana, Stefania Lio, che rintraccia le ragioni del successo nell’ascolto delle necessità quotidiane delle persone e in un lavoro metodico portato avanti a ogni livello. Un’azione strutturale che ha visto in prima linea anche il segretario regionale Emiliano Fossi, capace di tessere una rete di alleanze basata su programmi e credibilità piuttosto che su fragili convenienze del momento.

L’attenzione si concentra sui decisivi ballottaggi di Arezzo e Viareggio, dove il partito si gioca la partita finale supportando rispettivamente Vincenzo Ceccarelli e Federica Maineri.

E questa alternativa nasce nei territori, dai sindaci, dagli amministratori locali, dai circoli, dai militanti, dalle energie democratiche e progressiste che ogni giorno tengono vive le comunità. È lì che si ricostruisce fiducia. È lì che si dimostra che la buona politica non grida, ma ascolta, decide e governa”, evidenzia Mazzeo.

The partnership aims to develop and pilot carbon capture technologies in SARABURI SANDBOX, paving the way for industrial-scale deployment and future policy development. Mr. Surachai Nimla-or, Chairman of TCMA, stated that the collaboration reflects the proactive role of the industrial sector in advancing the country’s climate commitments through a Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model. The initiative brings together industry, academia, government, and international partners, including Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA), to accelerate the transition toward a low-carbon cement industry in line with the Thailand 2050 Net Zero Cement and Concrete Roadmap.
